ONDC crosses 200 million transaction mark

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on Monday said that it has officially crossed the 200 million transaction mark as it aims to be a game-changer in India’s digital commerce landscape. The Network said that it had taken about 20 months from January 2023-August 2024, for it to achieve the first 100 million transactions. But it crossed the 200 million transactions within the past six months by adding 100 million more.
“This acceleration underscores how ONDC has transitioned from an ambitious initiative to a nationwide movement, powering large-scale adoption across F&B, grocery, retail, logistics, mobility and financial services,” it added.
A paradigm shift
T Koshy, MD & CEO of ONDC, said: “Crossing 200 million transactions is more than just a milestone — it shows a paradigm shift in the way buyers and sellers are looking at digital commerce today. This validates ONDC’s belief that an open network can drive large-scale transformation by giving equal opportunity to businesses of all sizes, breaking monopolies, and creating an ecosystem where innovation thrives. The speed at which ONDC is scaling is a testament to India’s readiness for a more inclusive and accessible digital economy. And this is just the beginning. There are many more use cases brewing within ONDC which will see the light of day soon.”
With continued momentum across sectors and more participants integrating with the Network, ONDC remains committed to redefining the future of digital commerce in India, it added.
ONDC is an initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) which aims to democratise digital commerce by promoting open networks for exchanging goods and services, empowering small businesses and fostering a more inclusive e-commerce ecosystem.
