India has rejected China’s latest attempts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh calling it “vain and preposterous”.

“We have noticed that China has persisted with its vain and preposterous attempts to name places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Consistent with our principled position, we reject such attempts categorically,” MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Spokesperson asserted that the fact that Arunachal Pradesh was a part of India was undeniable.

“Creative naming will not alter the undeniable reality that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India,” he said.

The MEA was reacting to Beijing’s announcement of Chinese names for some places in Arunachal Pradesh, which it claims as the southern part of Tibet.
