It is 50 years since Bavistin, the flagship fungicide brand of Crystal Crop Protection Limited (CCPL), was launched.

The fungicide, which has sold over 1,000 tonnes in the 2024-25 fiscal year, has stood the test of time and science. Introduced in 1975, Bavistin has proven to be one of the most trusted and time-tested systemic fungicides in Indian agriculture, according to a press release from CCPL.

With its broad-spectrum preventive and curative action, Bavistin has protected millions of hectares of crops at various stages of growth, making it an indispensable ally for Indian farmers. Bavistin’s systemic nature enables the active ingredient to translocate within the plant, safeguarding every growing point and ensuring comprehensive protection against a wide range of fungal infections.

Over the decades, its performance has transformed it from a product into a legacy brand — one that resonates with Crystal’s enduring promise of “Protection and Profitability” for the farmer.

Ankur Aggarwal, Managing Director, Crystal Crop Protection, said: “Bavistin has become a part of India’s farming DNA. For 50 years, it has protected crops and supported farmer prosperity — which reflects our larger purpose at Crystal: to empower Indian farmers with sustainable, science-backed solutions.”

This Golden Jubilee is not only a celebration of a product but of a deep relationship built on performance and trust, he said, referring to the golden milestone.

To commemorate this iconic journey, Crystal has launched a “Limited-Edition Golden Jubilee Pack” of Bavistin across high-performing states, including Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka. The States have significantly contributed to the product’s success story.

Sohit Satyawali, Chief Business Officer – Crystal Brands Business, said, “The fungicide was a must yesterday, today and will be tomorrow.” Available in 50g, 100g, 250g, and 500g pack sizes, Bavistin remains a go-to choice for disease control among farmers, agronomists, and channel partners alike, the release said.
