Bombay HC directs fresh review of Rs 170 crore GST demand on Go Digit, ETCFO

The Bombay High Court has set aside a Rs 170 crore tax demand issued by the Chennai South Commissionerate of GST & Central Excise against Go Digit General Insurance, the company said in an exchange filing dated July 4.

The demand comprised Rs 154.8 crore in tax and Rs 15.48 crore in penalty for the period between July 2017 and March 2022.

The court observed that the GST Council had considered the issue and issued relevant circulars.

It has directed the adjudicating authority to decide the matter afresh in light of these directions.
