United Airlines marks 20 years of nonstop India–US flights, carries 6 million passengers

India continues to be an integral part of United’s global network, a senior executive said as the airline celebrates its 20th anniversary of non-stop operations to India.

Since the launch of service in 2005, the airline has carried more than 6 million customers and transported over 105,500 tonnes of cargo on over 26,000 flights between India and the United States.

“We are proud to mark 20 years of connecting India to the U.S and beyond via United’s unrivalled global route network,” said Harvinder Singh, head, Middle East and India, United Airlines. “India continues to be an integral part of United’s network and our valued customers in India can benefit from nonstop daily flights from New Delhi to our New York/Newark hub, with the possibility to connect seamlessly to over 85 destinations across the Americas,” he said.

United was the first U.S. airline to launch nonstop service from India to the U.S. two decades ago. The airline operated its first flight from India on November 2, 2005, with nonstop service from New Delhi to New York/Newark, and today, it offers a daily flight between these two cities.
