MOVING ENTERPRISE: TIL makes and markets equipment for lifting, logistics, and port handling

TIL Ltd is launching new products, venturing into a new segment, and leveraging its partnerships with global players to boost its material handling solutions business in step with the demand across its product portfolio, says company President Alok Kumar Tripathi.

The Kolkata-based company produces and markets an extensive range of equipment for lifting, logistics, and port handling. It plans to launch three new products at Excon, a prominent trade fair for the construction industry in South Asia, next month in Bengaluru.

“We are launching three new safety-focused material handling products at Excon 2025, marking the start of a wide range of innovations we have been investing in. The first major product marks our entry into the pick-and-carry crane segment, which has an annual market size of 14,000-15,000 units in India. We believe one-third of this segment will consider our offering because safety is a major concern for large companies,” Tripathi said.

With its second product, the company is re-entering the truck crane segment with an 85-tonne model. “We earlier had 70-80 per cent market share and now 5 per cent, due to our absence from the segment and increased competition from international manufacturers,” Tripathi said. The third product is an empty container handler that can operate on unpaved ground, common in Indian conditions.

“We are leveraging our renewed partnerships with global leaders like Hyster-Yale and Manitowoc to introduce technologically advanced products that appeal to quality-conscious customers,” Tripathi said, adding that the company is also strengthening its aftermarket support through an enhanced field force, improved inventory management, and SAP integration.

“We are positioning TIL as a complete solutions provider of lifecycle support, predictive maintenance through IoT integration, and AI-driven analytics for equipment optimisation,” he said.

TIL works with port operators, including Container Corporation of India. In the infrastructure sector, it is engaged with construction and road-building companies. Its logistics equipment segment recently bagged a contract worth about ₹100 crore from the Indian Air Force. In the industrial segment, it serves over 200 customers across coal, steel, mining, oil and petrochemicals, power, and railways sectors.
