New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) will organise an event in Mangaluru to celebrate its golden jubilee on November 13. The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, will participate in the celebration as the chief guest.
Inauguration and foundation stone laying for several infrastructure and community development projects will be part of the event.
The event will also feature an exhibition showcasing the 50-year journey of growth, service, and transformation, highlighting its key milestones, developmental projects, and contributions to the maritime sector.
An exhibition van portraying the five-decade journey of NMPA will travel across the hinterland regions in the coming months to promote awareness about the port.
NMPA will dedicate a hospital, which was built under public-private partnership model, to the nation on the occasion.
The port will also hand over two vehicles to Karnataka State Police under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. This follows a request by the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner to provide two vehicles under CSR to aid in traffic management initiatives, so as to improve the traffic flow and safety in the city.
