The two ramps for the road flyover at the Silkboard junction in Bengaluru are expected to be completed by December, says Afcons Infrastructure. The Central Silk Board junction is the city’s second-largest traffic congestion area after the Hebbal junction.

With this, commuters at the Silk Board junction will soon get respite from frequent traffic jams and flooding in the area. “There will be absolute zero wait time for commuters at the junction once the two ramps are operational. Not just that, even the flooding due to the city’s rajakaluves (stormwater drains) can be evaded with ease,” D. Murugadasan, executive vice president (divisional head) at Afcons Infrastructure, said.

Five ramps part of larger metro and road project at junction

Afcons is constructing a total of five ramps for the road flyover as part of its larger contract for the elevated metro stations along the Outer Ring Road and road widening at the junction.

Additionally, Afcons Infrastructure is constructing the 9.8 km elevated section of Bengaluru Metro’s Silk Board to KR Puram (Phase 2A) project, which includes the Central Silk Board junction, which is part of the blue metro line.
