SEA, FOSFA sign MoU to enhance trade cooperation in oils, seeds, fats
The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) and FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations) International signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday aimed at deepening global collaboration, enhancing trade cooperation, and strengthening knowledge exchange between the two industry bodies.
The MoU was formally signed by Sanjeev Asthana, President of SEA, and Santiago Visca, President of FOSFA International. This partnership brings together SEA’s extensive presence across India’s vegetable oil sector and FOSFA’s global authority in trade standards, arbitration, and industry governance.
A media statement said that this association creates a structured framework for deeper cooperation between the two organisations, which intends to focus not only on strengthening bilateral trade but also facilitating the exchange of market intelligence and promoting global best practices. It will also advance training and capacity-building efforts through specialised education and skill development programmes, while encouraging joint research and development to address industry challenges and tap emerging opportunities across the oils, oilseeds, and fats sector.
Joint working group to be set up
To ensure its smooth implementation, a joint working group will also be constituted, comprising of representatives from both SEA and FOSFA, who will meet twice a year to identify priorities, monitor progress, and further strengthening collaboration.
The statement said that this strategic partnership aims to bring tangible benefits to stakeholders, offering greater trade opportunities and improved market access; enhanced technical expertise through joint programmes; broader global networking; and improved industry capabilities and sustainable development.
