Remnant ‘low’ over TN can still kick up heavy rain
Satellite pictures reveal the heavy rain regime over most of Tamil Nadu has appeared to fade away this (Thursday) morning as a prevailing well-marked low-pressure area weakened into a conventional ‘low.’
Located over interior Tamil Nadu, the ‘low’ is still capable of kicking up heavy rainfall over coastal and South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorms are likely at many/some places with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) and later for four days from Sunday, as a fresh low-pressure area likely forms over south-west Bay of Bengal.
Clouds have started to mass up yet again over south-west and adjoining central Bay with a preparatory cyclonic circulation having taken shape to the north-west of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, not very far from the coast.
Heavy rain is forecast also for South Interior Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe for two days; Coastal Karnataka and Telangana for three days; North Interior Karnataka on Friday; and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema for seven days.
