Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) will grow its presence at leisure destinations and key airports, company’s Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer (South Asia) Nikhil Sharma said on Monday.
Sharma spoke with businessline after signing a 350 keys hotel under luxury lifestyle Radisson Collection brand near Navi Mumbai airport.
This is RHG’s largest hotel in India yet by number of keys. It will open by fourth quarter of CY 2028 and will also be RHG’s third property in Navi Mumbai. The Collection hotel is being developed by Hill Crest Hotels & Resorts which owns 300 room Radisson resort in Karjat near Mumbai.
“The number of airports in India has doubled from 75 to 150 in a decade. We want to capitalise on infrastructure and tourism boom in the country,” Sharma said. He added the company is close to signing deals for hotels near two other strategic airports in the country.
At present RHG has hotels in Mahipalpur and Mohali near Delhi and Chandigarh airports respectively.
“Navi Mumbai is the most coveted location now for hotels and we think the Collection brand will be the right fit for the area,” said Davashish Srivastava, RHG’s Senior Director (development), South Asia.
Upcoming hotels in Navi Mumbai include JW Marriott and Hyatt Regency being developed by Ventive Hospitality and Chalet Hotels. RHG is also developing another 100-plus keys hotel near the D Y Patil cricket stadium.
RHG’s portfolio in India includes over 200 hotels. This includes over 130 hotels in operation and 70 in pipeline spread across 80 cities. Growth has been rapid with the group signing 59 hotels in last 18 months.
“We are in a great space. At an industry level we have little over 2 lakh branded hotel rooms in the country and I am confident we will reach a million plus signed rooms by 2030,” said RHG’s Chairman (South Asia), K B Kachru.
