Prosus acquires 10.10% stake in ixigo for ₹1,296 crore

Prosus will have a right to appoint a director on ixigo’s board as a part of the transaction
Global technology company Prosus is acquiring 10.10 per cent stake in online travel firm ixigo for ₹1,296 crore widening its India footprint. The acquisition will be made via a preferential offer and is priced at ₹280 per equity share.
This is at 10.2 per cent discount to ixigo stock’s Thursday closing price, and values the online travel portal at $1.4 billion.
Prosus will have a right to appoint a director on ixigo’s board as a part of the transaction. In a stock exchange filing, Le Travenues Technology Ltd, which owns ixigo, said it plans to use the funds for organic and inorganic growth opportunities as well as for working capital and general corporate purposes.
“We believe that our company is at an inflection point in fulfilling its vision of building the best customer experience for travellers, and the immediate opportunity is to invest deeply in emerging agentic AI capabilities, solidify our presence in hotels, build top-of-mind brand recall and accelerate our growth through judicious investments in new AI platforms, products and services,” said ixigo.

Upto 25 per cent of proceeds will be used for organic initiatives such as developing AI platforms and product enhancements. Another 25 per cent will be earmarked for inorganic opportunities. The remainder would be used towards working capital and general corporate purposes.
In FY25 ixigo posted revenue of ₹914 crore, a growth of 39 per cent over previous year. Profit before tax for the year stood at ₹86 crore. A long-term investor in India with over $8.6 billion capital deployed to date, Prosus was a major investor in Flipkart and Goibibo. Today, it operates PayU in India, and its investment portfolio includes Swiggy, Meesho, Urban Company and Rapido
