The goods and service tax commissionerate has raised ₹458 crore tax demand on IndiGo in relation to compensation received from a foreign supplier and denial of input tax credit.

The airline disclosed the tax department order in a stock exchange notification on Tuesday. It said it will appeal against the order calling it erroneous.

The tax demand pertains to FY 2019-2023.

“GST department has passed an order imposing GST demand along with interest and penalty on compensation received from foreign supplier and denial of Input Tax credit. The company strongly believes that the order passed by the GST department is erroneous and not in accordance with law,” IndiGo said.

Similar order

IndiGo said it has already appealed against a similar order pertaining to FY18 and will contest the fresh order too. It added the new order does not have any significant impact on financials, operations or other activities of the company.

This is third tax order passed against the airline by GST authorities in December. Earlier this month airline was slapped with ₹58 crore and ₹117 crore tax demands in different matters.
