Lucknow households with solar rooftops will now enjoy a 10% exemption on residential house and water taxes.

Lucknow: Households with solar rooftops for renewable energy will now receive a 10 per cent exemption on residential house and water taxes.

This benefit is part of several key proposals related to city development, sanitation and public order that were approved during the executive committee meeting of the LMC on Thursday.

The meeting chaired by mayor Sushma Kharkwal was attended by municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, executive vice-president Charanjeet Gandhi and senior officials.

To promote renewable energy and support the PM Surya Awas Yojana, the committee approved a 10 per cent exemption on residential house and water taxes for property owners who have installed solar panels. Officials stated that the move aims to encourage citizens to shift towards solar power and reduce conventional energy use.

Mayor directed zonal officers to identify and remove illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya settlers within a month.

The committee also approved proposals to rename several city roads and parks. The road from Ring Road to Sahara Estate in Jankipuram Ward II will be known as Music Maestro Kamla Srivastava Marg.
