Gold prices surged to a fresh lifetime high on Wednesday, tracking firm global cues amid rising expectations of interest rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve and heightened geopolitical tensions.On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for the February contract jumped Rs 932, or 0.65 per cent, to hit a record high of Rs 1,43,173 per 10 grams.In the international markets, Comex gold futures for February delivery gained USD 37.61, or 0.82 per cent, hovering near a record level of USD 4,636.71 per ounce, after touching an intraday peak of USD 4,643.34 per ounce.The rally in bullion comes amid sustained demand for safe-haven assets, as investors factor in easing monetary policy expectations in the US alongside persistent geopolitical uncertainties.Here is how much gold costs in major Indian cities today:
