Fly smart with lithium batteries
The International Air Transport Association has launched a campaign to spread awareness on how fliers can carry lithium batteries safely on board an aircraft. A few pointers:
• Pack light: Only bring the devices and batteries you really need.
• Stay alert: If a device is hot, smoking or damaged, tell the crew (or airport staff) immediately.
• Keep devices with you: Always carry phones, laptops, cameras, vapes (if allowed) and other battery-powered items in your hand baggage, not in checked baggage.
• Protect loose batteries: Keep spare batteries and power banks in their original packaging or cover the terminals with tape to prevent short-circuits.
Cathay Cargo’s live customs updates

Cathay Cargo has emerged as the first airline to introduce real-time customs clearance updates for customers subscribed to the EzyCargo platform or those who have ONE Record API links to the airline’s system. Based on the IATA ONE Record data protocol, it adds customs authorities as an additional air cargo stakeholder in Cathay Cargo’s real-time communications with customers. Many customs authorities require PLACI (pre-load advanced cargo information), and shipments cannot be loaded until the destination customs authority gives a go-ahead. Similarly, most authorities require another approval layer before releasing shipments after arrival.
