Celebrity-backed electric mobility startup EXELmoto announced a strategic collaboration with logistics giant Delhivery India Limited at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, marking its entry into the commercial B2B segment with a customised e-bike designed for last-mile delivery operations.

The association, which began with pilot testing in June 2025, has progressed to a phase-wise delivery schedule with 200 logistics bikes currently in delivery. “We worked very closely to understand whether we could take his ROI up by 30 to 40 per cent and we were successful,” said Akshai Varde, Founder and CEO of EXELmoto. The custom-designed e-bike features a 45 kg payload capacity and pedal-assist functionality that allows riders to manually propel the vehicle if the battery depletes.

Beyond logistics, Varde outlined expansion plans across multiple sectors. “Not only will hotels adopt it for in-house activities, at tourist spots where people hire a taxi to go and do sightseeing, there’s no better way than to be on two wheels,” he said, adding that large educational campuses could benefit from the license-free, registration-free vehicles for student mobility.

The company is also exploring applications with government agencies. “We are looking in the future to make it available for government agencies like patrolling, border patrolling. We’re looking at the defence where certain applications like this can be made possible,” Varde stated.

EXELmoto unveiled ‘Scoot’, an electric cycle with a step-through frame and bench seating targeting women and elderly riders. The product requires no license or registration, offering ranges of 45 kilometers on throttle and up to 60-80 kilometers with pedaling.

Addressing after-sales service concerns, Varde explained the distributed support model. “The way that the product is designed and set up, we have worked with local cycle mechanics. I have gone personally to a roadside cycle mechanic that has a small shop and basic tools and he has been able to service everything except the battery motor controller and the electricals which we offer quick turnaround 48 hour to 72 hour depending on where you are.” The company provides a two-year battery warranty, one-year frame warranty, and includes a charger with each unit that fits standard 5 ampere plugs.

The startup, backed by Suniel Shetty, KL Rahul and Ahan Shetty, operates 68 retail outlets and plans Amazon and Flipkart listings in November 2025. Manufacturing capacity targets 50,000 units annually by Q3 2026.
