DreamFolks exits domestic airport lounge access as operators deal directly with banks

DreamFolks Services Ltd., India’s largest airport services aggregator, has stopped offering domestic airport lounge access to customers, effective Monday.
Travel and lifestyle aggregator DreamFolks will not provide domestic airport lounge access to its customers, the company said in a stock exchange notification on Monday.
The service has been discontinued, effective Monday, which will have a material impact on the company, it added.
“The other domestic services and global lounge business will continue as usual. We reiterate that contracts with our clients remain active and the discussions with the clients on alternate customer value propositions are in progress,” DreamFolks said.
DreamFolks, which began operations in 2013, facilitated lounge access to credit card holders due to its tie-ups with banks, airlines and lounge operators.
DreamFolks’ business model under pressure
DreamFolks is facing trouble after lounge operators and airports decided to deal directly with banks to provide access.
Last month, lounge operators Travel Food Services Limited said it had terminated the service agreement with DreamFolks and initiated discussions with banks to provide access to cardholders. Adani Digital and Encalm Hospitality (lounge operator), too, had issued notices to DreamFolks to discontinue certain services.
Adani Group had earlier said it is directly collaborating with banks and that there is no need for intermediaries. It was stated that there would be no impact on passengers, and cardholders would continue to enjoy lounge access unless the banks change the terms and conditions.
