CMRL undertakes third testing and trial of ‘downline’ from Porur to Poonamallee bypass metro station

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on Friday has commenced the testing and trial from Porur Junction Metro Station to Poonamalle Bypass Metro Station ‘downline’ in the Corridor 4 of the Phase-2 project.

Earlier the trials in the ‘up’ line of the section have commenced. With the completion of the ‘downline’, trials in both the tracks will proceed as per plan, says a release.

The viaduct section is about 10 km starting from Porur Junction Metro Station to Poonamalle Bypass Metro Station, interconnected with Poonamalle Metro Depot. For current testing and commissioning, Poonamalle Metro Depot will be the nerve centre to co-ordinate the testing & trials of the section.

Additionally, the Poonamaallee Bypass station ASS (Auxiliary Substation) was also successfully charged through 33kV power supply cable from Poonamallee Receiving substation at Poonamallee Depot. Progressively, CMRL will be conducting various tests & trials in Stage 1, necessary for ensuring safety & comfort of the passengers, the release said.
