Fertiliser major IFFCO’s Managing Director Kiritkumar J Patel has commended the soft launch of ‘Bharat Taxi’ app, projected to be an alternative to cab aggregators Uber and Ola, in the national capital region of Delhi and some parts of Gujarat and said that the app would soon expand its reach across the entire nation.
Beginning with 51,000 drivers on board across New Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, the roll out of Bharat Taxi app marks a significant milestone in reshaping India’s mobility ecosystem through the power of cooperation, Patel said in a statement. He also said that the app brings together (Delhi) Metro and other transit services into a single platform, creating a seamless multimodal travel experience for users.
“In addition, its partnership with the Delhi Police enhances safety and security for both riders and drivers,” he added.
Google Play Store shows over 50,000 downloads of Bharat Taxi app, including drivers. A traveller wanted to reach home from Delhi airport on Wednesday said that the app was working around 5 pm but the customer care number mentioned on the website was invalid.
The IFFCO MD said that under the innovative cooperative model, drivers receive 100 per cent of the fare, along with dividends and a share in the profit, which is a powerful testament to how cooperatives can uplift livelihoods and ensure true economic empowerment.
“This remarkable initiative stands as a shining example of how unity, cooperation, and collective ownership can build a stronger and more prosperous India,” he said.

Bharat Taxi in Delhi is reportedly operating around the airport, where the “red-yellow” taxis — previously run under the Delhi Traffic Police — have been brought under its fold. It is described as the world’s first national mobility cooperative.
The app is owned by the Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd, a multi-state cooperative society, registered in June this year. Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NDDB, NCEL, NCDC and NABARD are the promoters of the taxi cooperative.
