Bank holiday today: Banks across India, including major lenders like the State Bank of India (SBI), will observe holidays this weekend as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar. Regular RBI holidays include all Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.This week, bank closures will include:September 27–28 (Saturday-Sunday): Pan-India closures for the fourth Saturday and Sunday.September 29 (Monday): RBI-mandated holiday in Agartala, Kolkata, and Guwahati for Maha Saptami, the seventh day of Durga Puja.September 30 (Tuesday): Banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi will remain closed on Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami.Not all branches will be closed on every date, as holidays can vary by state. Customers are advised to check with their local branch before planning visits.What to do if your bank is closed?Even when branches are shut, banking services remain accessible online. Customers can use ATMs, mobile apps, internet banking, and digital payment platforms for fund transfers, bill payments, deposits, and loan applications.However, services requiring in-person visits—such as bulk cash deposits, demand drafts, or account settlements—will not be available on these days. Residents and businesses are encouraged to plan transactions in advance to avoid inconvenience.
