Agri exports up 12 per cent during H1 at $13.93 billion
India’s agri exports grew by about 12 per cent during the first half of the current financial year with shipments of products such as non-basmati rice, buffalo meat and pulses among others registering an increase during the period on higher demand.
The shipment value of agri products monitored by Apeda grew to $13.936 million during April-Sept 2025-26, up from $12.475 billion in the corresponding previous year.
Non-basmati shipments grew 27.6 per cent in value at $2.87 billion during H1FY26 over corresponding previous year’s $2.25 billion as volumes registered a growth of around 51 per cent to over 7.01 lakh tonnes (4.65 lakh tonnes in the corresponding previous year).
However, the basmati rice shipments saw a marginal decline at $2.76 billion, down from same period last year’s $2.86 billion on weak pricing. The shipment volumes of basmati rice registered a marginal increase at over 3.16 lakh tonnes over corresponding previous year’s 2.72 lakh tonnes.
The exports of buffalo meat grew by 17 per cent in volumes at $2.18 billion from previous year’s $1.86 billion on higher volumes. The buffalo meat volumes were up 12.65 per cent at 6.23 lakh tonnes over corresponding previous year’s 5.53 lakh tonnes.
The shipments of miscellaneous processed items were down marginally at $853 million from $875 million in the same period last year.
Fresh fruit shipment value up
Among other Apeda products, the exports of fresh fruits, cereal preparations and processed fruits and juices crossed the half a billion mark during the first six months of the current fiscal. The fresh fruit shipment value was up 31 per cent at $530 million ($405 million during first half of 2024-25), while cereal preparations grew by about 13 per cent to $510 million ($452 million). The exports of processed fruits and juices were up 7.5 per cent at $502 million ($467 million), while fresh vegetable shipment value was down marginally at $418 million ($438 million). Exports of processed vegetables were up at $415 million from previous year’s $381 million. The shipments of pulses also registered an increase of 25 per cent during the period at $435 million ($348 million).
