PLI Auto achieves major milestones with ₹35,657 crore investment: MHI

The production linked incentive (PLI) scheme in auto has achieved major milestones with ₹35,657 crore investment and ₹2,321.94 crore cumulative incentives disbursed till December 31, 2025, Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) said on Wednesday.

Further, employment of 48,974 people has been generated till December 31, the MHI said.

“PLI auto scheme incentivises only those products which achieve domestic value addition (DVA) of minimum 50 per cent. As of date, eight applicants under the champion original equipment manufacturer (OEM) category have received DVA certification for 94 variants, while 10 applicants under the component champion category have received DVA certification for 37 variants,” the MHI said.

Under the scheme, incentives have been provided for a total of 10,42,172 units of electric two-wheelers (e-2W), 2,38,385 units of electric three-wheelers (e-3W), 79,540 units of electric four-wheelers (e-4W), and 1,391 electric buses (e-buses), it added.

Under the PLI auto scheme, FY 2023–24 was the first performance year, and an amount of ₹322 crore was disbursed to four approved applicants in FY 2024–25 including Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts and Ola Electric Tech.

As of date, for the performance year 2024–25, a total amount of ₹1,999.94 crore has been disbursed for five approved applicants, it said.

In the champion OEM, the companies who got incentives include M&M, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric, TVS Motor Company, Eicher Motors, Pinnacle Mobility Solutions, and Hero MotoCorp.

In the component champion category, the OEMs include Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts, Delphi-TVS Technologies, Sona BLW Precision Forgings, Bosch Automotive Electronics India, Dana TM4 India, Tata Autocomp Systems, Uno Minda, Napino Auto and Electronics, and Cummins Technologies India.
