Rail Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL), a public sector enterprise of the Government of India and a joint venture of the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd., has awarded a long-term Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract to POWERCON for its 26 MW wind power project at Dangri in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.

The contract is effective from December 16, 2025, and the project comprises 13 wind turbine generators of 2 MW each supplied by InoxWind, which have completed their initial 10-year operational life under the original equipment manufacturer.

As the project enters its second and more demanding operational phase, POWERCON will undertake a comprehensive technical health assessment of the turbines and associated infrastructure. This will be followed by targeted remediation measures aimed at restoring the assets to optimal operating condition and extending their productive life.

Long-term Reliability

Located in a harsh desert environment marked by frequent sandstorms, high dust exposure, and extreme temperature variations, the project requires specialised technical expertise and a performance-driven asset management approach to ensure long-term reliability

.The engagement will be executed in two phases. Phase 1 will focus on detailed diagnostics of the wind turbine generators and unit substations, along with structured remediation to address identified issues, reinforce safety systems, and stabilise performance. Phase 2, spanning 10 years, will concentrate on maximising energy availability, improving productivity and reliability, and extending asset life.

Performance focus

Commenting on the association, Praveen Kakulte, Founder and CEO of the POWERCON Group, said, “We appreciate the confidence a major PSU has placed in us. REMCL expects a marked improvement in reliability and lifetime performance of the project, and we fully recognise the responsibility this entails. Our focus will be disciplined execution, strong technical governance and ensuring the turbines return to and remain at their optimal operating potential throughout its lifetime.”
