AIIMS Raipur Unveils Innovative Digital Drug Tracking System for Emergency Care, ETHealthworld

Raipur: The Emergency Department of AIIMS Raipur launched AUSHADHI-ER, an indigenous web-based inventory management system to ensure steady drug availability and streamline operations in emergency care.

The platform was developed under SRIJAN (Scientific Research and Innovation Junction for AI and New Biomedical Technologies), an institutional initiative at AIIMS Raipur that focuses on digital health and biomedical innovations.

Dr Debendra Kumar Tripathy conceived the AUSHADHI-ER platform, which was subsequently developed by Dr Roshan Mathew and Dr Naman Agrawal. The system addresses long-standing challenges in managing emergency drug stocks. Previously, the department relied on physical records and multiple manual registers. This lack of real-time visibility often led to over-indenting or stock discrepancies, which are critical risks in emergency settings where an uninterrupted supply of medicines is mandatory.

Developed under the iECS project, AUSHADHI-ER is a paperless, automated platform that provides real-time stock entry and reporting. While currently used for drug inventory in the Ground Floor Emergency Department, the administration plans to include medical consumables soon. The system will be progressively deployed across the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) and the Emergency Operation Theatre.

Executive Director and CEO Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd) formally launched the system. He stated that AUSHADHI-ER translates frontline clinical needs into scalable digital solutions. He noted that such innovations improve transparency and patient safety, setting a benchmark for technology-driven improvements in public healthcare.
