Ahead of the National Milk Day on November 26, Milma has launched five new products comprising Samridhi Ghee, Milma plus flavoured milk in can, Ghee Halwa, Kanthari Buttermilk and Banana Burfi.

The newly launched products are part of the initiatives to reposition Milma as an international brand that can compete with other multi-national companies through attractive and world class packaging without compromising on quality, K S Mani said. Milma has now standardised the quality, quantity, packaging and pricing of its products from all three regional unions.

The newly launched Samrudhi Ghee comes in premium matka glass bottles in 500 ml and 1,000 ml bottles at ₹480 and ₹900, respectively. Flavoured milk can comes in vanilla, badam, chocolate and rose flavours and is priced at ₹38 per can. The product, made using sterilisation technology without any added preservatives, has a shelf-life of 9 months in normal room temperature.

Ghee Halwa is the latest premium product from Milma’s Malabar Regional Union. It blends the taste of the famed Kozhikode Halwa and Milma ghee. The product comes in a 450gm packet and is priced at ₹260. Kanthari buttermilk, a tailor-made product for health enthusiasts, is made using Milma curd, salt and Kanthari chilli. It comes in 700ml bottle, priced at ₹50. Banana Burfi is made using ghee, banana and jaggery. The product comes in 100gm and 250gm cartons, priced at ₹70 and ₹160, respectively.

Speaking to reporters, he said Milma has given back 92.5 percentage of its profit in the last fiscal totaling ₹254.79 crore, as additional incentives, cattle subsidy and other welfare schemes to dairy farmers. Despite reports of decrease in the number of cattle, the company has recorded a 14 per cent increase in milk procurement from April to September this year, which is a historic achievement.

“Milma already has market in all major cities in India and our products are in high demand in the Middle East. Recently we have made arrangements to distribute our products in Australia and New Zealand also. Our aim is to further scale up the distribution network with the motto ‘wherever there’s a Malayali, there is Milma,” Mani said.

The organisation achieved a turnover of around ₹4,327 crore and it procurers around 1.25 million litre of milk and sells around 1.65 million litre of milk per day, besides it also brings to market an assortment of value-added products.
