We are delighted to share that Citi India’s support has helped the inauguration of 10 St. Judes centres in Navi Mumbai that will provide accommodation to underprivileged families of children seeking cancer treatment in the city. These residential units are located inside the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, which is affiliated to the Tata Memorial Centre. In addition to safe and hygienic accommodation, the ACTREC facility offers nutritious meals, counselling sessions, educational assistance, and transportation for children undergoing cancer treatment. The project is St. Judes’ largest facility of its kind. It is a 12-storey, 234-unit complex, which once fully operational, is projected to provide free accommodation to over 700 families annually.
The inauguration of the ACTREC facility was held in the presence of K Balasubramanian, CEO & Banking Head of Citi India. Ms Manisha Parthasarathy, Chairperson, and Mr Anil Nair, CEO, both from St. Judes India, were also present at the event.
Citi India has been associated with St. Judes since 2014, contributing through Third Circle activities, such as educational and entertainment sessions for children and parents, volunteering initiatives, and a payroll-giving partnership that enabled employees to directly extend their financial support to the cause.
Speaking on the inauguration, K Balasubramanian said: “Citi is proud to support this initiative that provides hygienic accommodation and nutrition for cancer-afflicted kids, which are both vital factors in ensuring a successful outcome for the long treatment process. On behalf of Citi, my congratulations and best wishes to the team for inaugurating the Kharghar facility, which is a timely addition to the country’s cancer care infrastructure.”
Anil Nair, CEO, St. Judes, said, “For underprivileged families who must travel to big cities for their child’s cancer treatment, St. Judes offers more than just accommodation — it is a second home where young patients can heal with dignity. We are grateful to our long-term supporter, Citi India, for helping us build our new facility that is our most ambitious until date.”
