Mysuru: JSS Hospital successfully conducted a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) using cutting-edge Virtual Implant Positioning (VIP) technology, marking a significant milestone in advanced orthopaedic surgery.
RTSA is an innovative procedure designed for patients with severe shoulder dysfunction, especially when traditional shoulder replacement options are not suitable. The surgery provides significant relief and enhances mobility for those suffering from conditions like rotator cuff insufficiency, persistent shoulder pain, and pseudo-paralysis, which often affect everyday tasks such as combing hair or reaching behind the back.
The procedure was performed under the leadership of Dr H Basavanagowdappa, vice-chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education; Dr Narayanappa, principal; Dr CP Madhu, hospital director; and Dr Siddalingamurthy, head of the orthopaedics department.
