India to allow exports of 1.5 million metric tonnes of sugar, sources say

India plans to allow sugar exports of 1.5 million metric tonnes in the new season, as lower diversion of sugar for ethanol production is expected to leave a larger domestic surplus, government and trade sources told Reuters on Monday.

India had allowed exports of 1 million tonnes in the previous season.
