20th edition of ‘The Golden Leaf India Awards’ announced
The Woodbriar Group has won 8 awards in The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA) conceived by UPASI in collaboration with Tea Board of India is an annual feature eagerly looked forward by the tea fraternity in South India.
Parry Agro Industries Ltd won 7 awards, followed by Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Co Pvt Ltd with 6 awards, Harrisons Malayalam Ltd SBU-A with 5 awards, Harrisons Malayalam Ltd SBU: B, Green T Estate and Kodanad Estate with 3 awards each. Shri Vasuprada Plantations Ltd and Darmona Tea Industry won 2 awards each, while Kannavarai Tea Industry bagged one award.
UPASI in a press release said that this annual competition over the last two decades has helped immensely to showcase the quality teas of various regions of South India all over the world.
The first level screening of contesting teas by the domestic jury for the 20th edition of TGLIA, was held on March 7 and 8 in Coimbatore coinciding with the National Convention of South Indian Teas.
The final tasting session, which comprised international jury members, was held on September 18 at Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty coinciding with the 8th edition of India International Tea Convention (IITC 2025).
The results were announced at the valedictory session of IITC 2025 and awards were distributed to the winners by P Rajeev, Kerala Industries Minister.
