Market valuation of 8 of top-10 firms fell by Rs 2 lakh crore, Reliance and TCS lead the decline

NEW DELHI: The combined market valuation of eight out of the top-10 most valued companies declined by Rs 2,01,699.77 crore last week, with Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services being the biggest losers, mirroring the weak trends in the equity market. The BSE benchmark Sensex declined by 1,181.84 points, or 1.43 per cent, during the previous week.
Reliance Industries market valuation fell by Rs 60,824.68 crore to Rs 19,82,282.42 crore.Similarly, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) slumped by Rs 34,136.66 crore, bringing its valuation down to Rs 16,12,762.51 crore.
Additionally, State Bank of India’s valuation also witnessed a significant drop of Rs 29,495.84 crore, reaching Rs 6,98,440.13 crore, while Bharti Airtel’s valuation diminished by Rs 28,379.54 crore, settling at Rs 8,76,207.58 crore. Infosys and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) also suffered substantial losses in their market capitalization, with Infosys losing Rs 17,061.44 crore to reach Rs 7,89,819.06 crore and LIC’s mcap eroding by Rs 16,381.74 crore to Rs 6,57,009.14 crore.
ICICI Bank and ITC also experienced declines in their market capitalization, with ICICI Bank’s mcap falling by Rs 15,169.76 crore to Rs 8,51,204.65 crore and ITC’s mcap decreasing by Rs 250.11 crore to Rs 6,27,337.65 crore.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever managed to add Rs 14,179.78 crore to its market valuation, reaching Rs 6,66,919.73 crore, while HDFC Bank’s mcap climbed by Rs 3,735.35 crore to Rs 12,47,941.78 crore.
Despite the overall decline, Reliance Industries maintained its position as the most-valued domestic firm, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, LIC, and ITC.
