The Government has implemented mandatory Standardization Testing and Quality Certification for CCTV from April 9 to tackle the indiscriminate imports from China.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Standard Deferment Notice for 21-days to all manufacturers to comply with the mandate.

Manufacturers who fail to meet the STQC compliance requirements within the stipulated period will face regulatory consequences, including the suspension or cancellation of their BIS license.

Companies who comply with new norms in 21-daya will retain their existing registration numbers. However, failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will lead to license cancellation, requiring a fresh application to obtain re-registration.

Those who have already initiated the BIS process and submitted their products to STQC for testing are expected to receive certification depending on their stage of certification, as it involves multiple stages—application submission, fee payment, sample delivery, testing, factory visit, validation, and more.

Sanjeev Sehgal, Founder & Managing Director, Sparsh CCTV said BIS has issued notices to all manufacturers, directing them to comply with the prescribed guidelines regarding the operation of their licenses.

At Sparsh CCTV has proactively initiated multiple applications and are closely tracking their status to ensure timely completion and meeting the timelines, he added.

BIS has directed manufacturers to stop the supply and sale of the non-compliant goods and articles under the license.

It has directed companies to withdraw it from the warehouse, market, distributor and from transit.

Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology announced the initial guidelines for the Production Linked Incentive scheme for components.

The industry now eagerly awaits further detailed instructions to ensure smooth compliance and seamless implementation.

The initiative aligns perfectly with Sparsh CCTV’s commitment to indigenous manufacturing and high domestic value addition at its upcoming manufacturing facility in Kashipur, he added.

“The PLI scheme will also strengthen investments in R&D, trusted sourcing, and the development of cyber-secure surveillance solutions, enabling the company to achieve up to 80 per cent domestic value addition,” he said.
