S K Chaudhari is new Director-General of Fertiliser Association

Suresh Kumar Chaudhari has joined the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) Tuesday after being pointed as the Director-General by the industry body. Prior to this, Chaudhari was serving as the Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for five years, till he took voluntary retirement last month.

Award winner

After joining ICAR in 1990 as a scientist, Chaudhary served the premier agriculture research body in various capacities. In view of his pioneering work in the field of agriculture, Chaudhari has been bestowed with many national and international honours/awards including Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (by ICAR) and Global Soil Information (by FAO), FAI said in a statement.

May help industry

Industry officials said that Chaudhary may help the fertilizer industry navigate through a difficult phase when the entire focus of the government has been shifted to improve soil conditions by reducing use of chemical fertilizers and increasing organic compounds through natural farming techniques.
