“The beginning is always today” – Mary Shelley
In the theater of life there are no rehearsals. Every step, every action you take towards your goal. Yet most of us hesitate to take that first step. Sometimes it is out of fear, sometimes procrastination, or at times you do not to go ahead at all. You keep waiting for that perfect moment and that perfect plan. But life’s magic does not lie in that perfection. It lies in the courage to start and to take your plan.
The fear of failure often paralyzes us! It makes us overthink. Overanalyze and sometimes we even give up before trying. But here is the fact: it is not about success. It is how well-lived you have had a start in your life.
Think like a sculptor staring at a large piece of marble. The masterpiece within the marble will never emerge unless the first chisel strikes. The same applies to us. Unless and until we start out, we are never going to realize how much we can achieve.
Each step matters, no matter however it is clumsy. And once you built the momentum you are truly unstoppable.
Society often glorifies the result- the accolades, the trophy and the promotion. While this cannot be ignored, it needs to be seen that the process is equally important. In the process of trying, we build resilience, patience, clarity and confidence. Every stumble, every block brings us closer to our goal, making us stronger than ever.
Picture the story of JK Rowling, who faced multiple rejections before Harry Potter became a rage. It was simply the most unbeatable story book of all time. Her success wasn’t just a result of talent, it was of resilience and patience.
Life does not offer any retakes. It is a one-time opportunity. And that is why it is important, why starting matters.
Think of your life as a canvas. The first brush you apply will be difficult. You will be unsure of where it leads to. But each stroke you apply will add to its depth, color and texture. Without the first step the masterpiece remains a blank canvas.
You don’t require a flawless execution or an ideal plan. You just must be willing to start. Life is about learning things as you go along, not about having everything figured out. Keep in mind that every great journey begins with a single step that has the capacity to change your life.
So don’t wait. Begin now. Because life, in all its flaws, is happening right now and is too valuable to be postponed.
