DGCA commences quarterly review of airlines’ operations

India’s aviation safety regulator has begun holding quarterly review meetings with all domestic airlines starting Tuesday.

Accordingly, the meetings — spread over three days — will focus on safety performance, implementation of Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms, and adherence to On-Time Performance (OTP) standards.

The first such meeting was held on Tuesday.

“This is a quarterly review where the DGCA assesses the overall safety ecosystem of the airlines,” an industry insider told businessline.

According to the source, the initial sessions were held with representatives of Air India and IndiGo.

Besides OTP and FDTL compliance, the discussions also covered customer grievances, operational readiness and fog preparedness ahead of the winter season.

“From the industry’s point of view, these meetings have been very helpful over the last few months,” the insider added.
