All taxpayers who are required by law to file tax audit report can now file by October 7.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing various reports of audit including Tax Audit for the Previous Year 2023-24.

The last date for filling the audit report was September 30.

In a notification issued Monday, CBDT said that the date was extended considering difficulties faced by the taxpayers.

The penalty for not filing the audit report is Rs 1.5 lakh or 0.5% of total sales, whichever is lower.
