The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on Friday said that the GST 2.0 continues to anchor affordability under the “Simpler Tax, Stronger Growth” vision, and marriage season, harvest cashflows, and new launches would sustain momentum through year-end.
While sharing the monthly retail sales for October, FADA said that this year’s 42-day festive period also recorded highest-ever sales in the history of Indian automotive sales.
“The 42-day festive period of 2025 stands as a defining milestone for India’s auto retail, delivering the highest-ever sales and growth across categories. Overall vehicle retails surged 21 per cent year-on-year (YoY), affirming the success of the government’s transformative GST 2.0 reforms — a reform that truly embodies the spirit of Simpler Tax, Stronger Growth,” CS Vigneshwar, President, FADA, said.
During the festive period, the passenger vehicle (PV) retail sales grew by more than 23 per cent to 7,66,918 units as compared with 6,21,539 units in the same period of 2024.
While two-wheeler (2W) retail sales during the 42-day period jumped 22 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 40,52,503 units ( 33,27,198 units), three-wheeler (3W) sales grew by 9 per cent to 1,74,189 units during the said period ( 1,59,959 units), FADA said.
Overall, the total retail sales across vehicles categories grew by 21 per cent y-o-y to 52,38,401 units during the festive period this year (against 43,25,632 units).
On monthly retail sales, the PV sales grew by 11.35 per cent y-o-y to 5,57,373 units ( 5,00,578).
Similarly, 2W retail sales grew by 52 per cent y-o-y to 31,49,846 units ( 20,75,578).
The overall sales across vehicles categories grew by 40.53 per cent y-o-y to 40,23,923 units ( 28,63,354 units).
“Insights from our dealer survey indicates that the industry expects the momentum from the festive surge to extend into November, though with a natural moderation after an all-time-high October. Two-wheeler dealers foresee steady demand backed by rural liquidity, wedding-related purchases, and spill-over from festive bookings, aided by GST benefits and improved sentiment. PV dealers report a strong pipeline of undelivered festive bookings, better stock availability, and continued traction from the GST price correction, though some expect a pause as customers await year-end offers and new model launches,” Vigneshwar added.
