Jayadeva Institute to Expand Mysuru Unit by 200 Beds for Enhanced Cardiac Care, ETHealthworld

Mysuru: To meet the rising demand for advanced cardiac care, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research is planning to propose an additional 200-bed expansion at its Mysuru unit, announced its director, Dr B Dinesh.

Addressing staff during the 15th anniversary celebration of Mysuru Jayadeva Hospital on Saturday, Dr Dinesh said the facility currently serves patients not only from Mysuru but also from seven neighbouring districts. With the existing 400-bed capacity becoming inadequate, expansion has become a necessity, he said.

Reassuring employees, Dr Dinesh stated that efforts are under way to regularise temporary staff and resolve long-pending issues related to promotions and incentives. With the current employee insurance set to expire in Dec, he said that a shift from individual insurance to a family insurance scheme—covering spouses and children—will be explored.

On the resignation of eight doctors in March, Dr Dinesh noted that many now regret leaving the institution. He also shared that a dedicated paediatric cardiology unit is being established in Bengaluru to enhance specialised treatment for children. Additionally, he expressed his long-term vision to have at least one Jayadeva cardiac institute for every three districts in the state.

He lauded medical superintendent of Mysuru unit, Dr KS Sadananda, for his exemplary leadership and tireless commitment to the hospital.
